OUR APPROACH

Fewer homes,
better made

Chartwood Homes is a small private developer working across Surrey and Sussex. We build a handful of houses each year, each one considered as carefully as the last.

A HOUSE-BUILDER, IN THE OLDER SENSE

The way new homes used to be built

The volume house builder model has its place — but it isn't ours.

Chartwood was founded on the conviction that a new home should be designed by someone who cares, built by trades who take pride, and finished to a standard that doesn't need explaining when you walk through the door.

We choose our sites carefully. We brief architects we admire. We work with the same trades, project after project. And we sign off every detail ourselves — every door handle, every cornice, every paint colour.

It means we build fewer homes. It also means the homes we do build are the ones we'd want to live in.

WHAT WE BELIEVE

Four principles, quietly held.

— 01

Considered design

An architect's hand on every house. Bespoke layouts. No off-the-shelf plans repeated across the country.

— 02

Real craftsmanship

The same trusted trades, project after project. Hand-painted joinery, true lines that meet where they should.

— 03

Materials that age

Solid brass, honed stone, English oak, lime render. We choose materials that look better with use, not worse.

— 04

Local sensibility

We build where we live. Each scheme is designed for the specific lane, village or hamlet it sits in — never imposed on it.
